The long winded story.

Originally from San Diego, where my mother owned her own marketing firm. I’ve lived in LA and all over the Bay Area until moving to Sebastopol when I was thirteen. That was when I finally felt like I’d come home.

I earned volunteer of the year, participated not only in large public land clean-up events but at Apple Blossom Convalescent, at the local humane society all while between ninth grade and my sophomore year. My interest in art began to flourish as I enjoyed experimenting with different mediums and styles and even joining theater. I discovered Reiki and my love of becoming a part of my community.

My sophomore summer I moved to Fort Bragg and fell even more in love with the Northern California Coast. I began my first year as a Big with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program launching in my high school as well as the schools first venture with New Games. New Games used local high schoolers to teach elementary children team building, non-violent games. I also began working part-time for the local Humane Society through a locally sponsored program. Participated in theater and even participated in acting competitions. Continued with my art and was considering on becoming an Art Therapist. Art and music are the purest forms of expression, and similarly to fashion, my realistic sensibilities require that the art be functional. After turning eighteen, I moved to Novi, Michigan, to help my mother with her heart transplant complications. Introduced my daughter to the world and put who I was, as a person, on hold.

A short while later we moved to Casper, Wyoming for economical and familial reasons. Wyoming, is a very different animal: male dominated, Republican, and a never ending culture shock. After several years of taking care of my mother I was finally able to find myself again. All of my art and marketing experience has been hands on. I struggled and I learned what did and did not work by doing it. I found that I excelled at computer oriented art and expanded on that. I was trained by a man who is now one of my best friends and also one of the most strict teachers. I came away from that print shop with the ability to understand print in and out. Next came the small weekly newspaper, where I further expanded upon my solid foundation. After followed Wyoming’s only state wide newspaper and working under an amazing marketing director whom I actually remained in the state for instead of moving with my mother for Colorado’s better medical care. My mother passed while I worked at the paper but that never diminished my love for the job. Sadly, the individual left her position with the paper shortly after and their replacement was far less experienced than I. That type of structure simply doesn’t work, so I left the company. I ventured into a Series 63 license while selling shares of a company. Found that even though I grasp marketing the concepts of sales are far less substantial than working on something

Being and ISFJ I’ve never gotten abstract applications. Thus, I went for something in-between, radio. I had fun and expanded upon what I already had learned, but came to the realization that sales, in any form, just isn’t for me. I enjoy physically doing the work that comes after the abstract conversation. I see all phases and parts as an intricate puzzle and rely on my experience, both with people and functional marketing, to do what I enjoy.

Thus came Allegory LLC, being that one cannot work for a firm in an Employer Right state while still doing work for non-profits. I connected part-time employees who had degrees or amazing talent with small businesses that were being forgotten about between the print shops and advertisement firms. I had found an amazing team of people who were working on their free time with me to build something. The idea of what we were building was solid and would survive the long haul. Coordinating people and projects has been ingrained in me since high school. The projects and coordination were simple due to relying on my experience, but I re-discovered that I have no interest in being a “captain”. Struggled with it and continued on despite it.

I remained there until January 1st of this year. Raising my, now two, wonderfully curious kids and enjoying being a functioning member of my community. Continued being a Big with Big Brothers Big Sisters as well as a volunteer coordinator with Weeds and Seeds, a community service program for juveniles for several years. Being a Big ended when my children said that they we no longer comfortable sharing their mom. Luckily, BBBS asked me to be one of their board members and happily accepted. I also did whatever I was able for the local Downtown Farmers Market and Downtown Casper Business Association as an impromptu member.

I have a family of people that I’ve adopted into my life and when one, with two small children of her own, told me that she had stage 3 ovarian cancer I came home to Northern California. Thus, here I am, moral support on two legs. Although as it turns out, she was content to simply do whatever she wants until the cancer takes her life. The big lesson there is that you cannot help a person who does not wish to help themselves.

In 2014, I had the pleasure to work with the multifaceted individuals over at Copperfield's Books Headquarters as their In-House Designer and Web Coordinator. I became immersed in the work of book and event promotion as well as in-depth website re-navigation. I've never been able to restructure such a difficult site and I loved the challenge of it.

As of 2014-16 I enjoyed being a part of two 'new to me' projects, Kace Tripp Publishing and being a part of the entrepreneurial duo that is John & Richard! I love being able to challenge myself and those around me and being a part of a team. Enjoying their different skills while flexing my brain muscles to get the job done. It's a great thing that I love what I do!

Life changes, as it often does and my interest in gardening and sustainable living have taken a different turn. I am driven to learn more about permaculture and want to help develop farmers markets on both ends, marketing and the knowledge of what it takes to run a farm. Enrolling in SRJC has been a goal for a while. Something new and exciting and yet still within the sphere of my interests.
